Day 1 & 2 – Fort Davis / McDonald Observatory

Let’s take an adventure through history, and experience the wonderous nature of Southwest Texas. First stop: Fort Davis! This national historic site is one of the best locations to see an Indian Wars’ frontier military post. Gear up for a wonderful time as we enjoy the night’s sky at the McDonald Observatory’s “Star Party”, allowing us the opportunity to view constellations and celestial objects through telescopes within the Rebecca Gale Telescope Park.

Day 1 (no meals) Overnight: Pecos, TX; Day 2 (B,L) Overnight: Fort Davis, TX

Days 3 & 4 – Big Bend Museum / Big Bend National State Park

At The Big Bend Museum’s Legacy exhibit, get an insight into the area’s history, and learn how nature and humans have made an imprint on the land. Our two-day adventure of the glorious Texas treasure continues with a guided tour of Big Bend National State Park. With its untamed paradise of colorful mountains and an array of wildlife, the terrain varies from deep canyons at sea level to the peaks of mountains over 7,000 feet tall.

Day 3 (B,D); Day 4 (B,L) Overnight: Terlingua, TX

Days 5 & 6 – Annie Riggs Memorial Museum / Fort Concho National Historic Landmark

Today we make a stop in Fort Stockton at the Annie Riggs Memorial Museum. The former hotel is a time capsule into the past. For our final destination, we visit the Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, a military post that existed to provide law and order, protect, and settle the Texas frontier. In the late 19th century, at least forty buildings stood on the 1600 acre fort. Today, we have the opportunity to explore some of the remaining structures, furnished to reflect the time period.

Day 5 (B,L) Overnight: San Angelo, TX; Day 6 (B)
